The success and demand for the Series 278 high performance end mill from M.A. Ford’s TuffCut® XT range has seen the company make a significant expansion to the range with the more than 400 new product variants being launched and incorporated into the line.
Using M.A. Ford’s proprietary Altima® Blaze coating, the Series 278 is a 5 flute high performance solid carbide end mill, with exceptional high metal removal rates and is designed for use with steels, stainless steels, special alloys and cast irons in a range of performance critical industry sectors.
Covering diameters from 0.125” up to 1.000”, as well as metric sizes, the new extended Series 278 product range provide engineers and manufacturing managers with an even greater scope of high performance tooling choices, as the range now includes additional lengths of cut, through coolant and Weldon flats shanks, as well as increased corner radius options tailored to meet the needs of the aerospace manufacturing industry.
Innovations, such as enhanced edge protection, CNC ground uniform tooth width on all flutes, face grinding on square corner cutting tool profiles and blended neck relief are all retained within the range from the original design, which has enabled TuffCut® end mills to perform better and last significantly longer than competitive products. This helps minimize process downtime, while maximizing productivity and cost efficiency.
