RADNOR, PA — Airgas, Inc. recently marked the grand opening of its new industrial, medical and specialty gas facility and its state-of-the-art Hydrocarbon Center of Excellence. The new plants are strategically located to serve the petrochemical, research and fabrication industries of the Gulf Coast region. Airgas is the largest U.S. distributor of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, and related hardgoods, such as welding equipment and supplies. The plant is owned and operated by Airgas Southwest, Inc., one of 12 Airgas regional companies.

The company celebrated the grand opening of these facilities in a private open house event today where customers were invited to have personalized tours of the facilities and enjoy dinner with Airgas associates.

"These new facilities represent the state of the art in gas filling and analysis,” said Brent Sparks, President of Airgas Southwest. “Our goal is to exceed the needs of our customers. We are proud to introduce our diverse customer base to these new facilities and show them how Airgas will continue to provide them with a more efficient supply of a wide range of industrial and specialty gases.  We’re particularly proud of our Hydrocarbon Center of Excellence, which is truly an industry-leading facility. Our stellar research team and production associates work together to create a new standard in customer satisfaction.”

The facilities sit on nearly 14 acres on Miller Cut-Off Road. The Hydrocarbon Center of Excellence — the first of its kind in the industry — combines new technology in the fill and analytical processes and brings together research, customer technical assistance, order processing, production, and analytical services under one roof.  Mixtures from this facility are shipped worldwide.

The 20,340 square foot Pure Gas Plant fills cylinders with oxygen, nitrogen, argon, CO2, helium, welding gas mixtures, as well as pure specialty gas grades of nitrogen, argon, helium, and oxygen. Product from this facility serves the needs of the entire Texas Gulf Coast.
