Genuine Parts Company (GPC) announced Monday that its board of directors has elected former HD Supply veteran executive William Stengel, II to the position of executive vice president and chief transformation officer. In the role, he has responsibility for managing GPCs short- and long-term transformation, including strategic growth, operating efficiency and cost-saving initiatives across the organization.
Stengel spent more than a decade in various executive roles at HD Supply — No. 2 on Industrial Distribution's 2019 Big 50 List. Most recently, he was president and chief executive officer of HD Supply Facilities Maintenance, which will become its own independent company under the HD Supply name in 2020. Stengel previously served as chief operating officer and chief commercial officer at HD Supply Facilities Maintenance and held executive management positions in strategic business development and other corporate functions at HD Supply. Prior to HD Supply, Stengel served in business development roles at Home Depot for two years.
