Motion Industries is making a significant expansion in the area of automation and robotics with the announced acquisition of Axis New England and Axis New York. The news came this week from Genuine Parts Company, the parent company of Motion Industries.

Axis was formed in 1994 and concentrates on providing factory automation solutions across the Northeast region. The company has a 20,000 square foot facility that serves as their headquarters, in Danvers, Massachusetts, and an additional engineering and service center in Rochester, New York, with 5,000 square feet of space. Axis touts its fast and precise automation solutions for multiple industries, including semiconductor and precision machining.

"Axis is a well-established company that further expands Motion's capabilities in the area of industrial plant floor automation,” says Paul Donahue, president and CEO of Genuine Parts, in a statement. β€œWe are excited to welcome the Axis team to the Motion Industries and the GPC family, and we look forward to working with them to grow our business in the years ahead."

It’s estimated that Axis will deliver an additional $55 million in annual revenues to the already impressive ledger of Motion Industries.

Assuming all closing conditions and other clearances are met, the deal is expected to close on March 1, 2019.
