STANLEYTOWN, Va. (AP) — More than 500 Southside Virginia workers will lose their jobs as Stanley Furniture closes its Henry County plant.
The company announced Wednesday that it will close the plant and move its manufacturing overseas. The move will eliminate 530 jobs between October and December.
The announcement comes a month after furniture manufacturer American of Martinsville closed, leaving another 230 people out of work. The region has long suffered from double-digit unemployment rates.
