Rex-Cut Invests $1M in Abrasive Material Making Line

Rex-Cut is investing $1M in a new Abrasive Material Manufacturing Line.

Rex-Cut is investing $1M in a new Abrasive Material Manufacturing Line. This investment will allow us to continue to produce high-quality abrasive material and finished goods well into our future.

Since 1928, we have made a proprietary abrasive material using a unique process that embeds grain into non-woven cotton fabric. Material varying in hardness and grits are produced to manufacture finished goods that are used in grinding, blending, and deburring applications throughout metalworking industries. All of our cotton fiber products, including type 1 wheels, type 27 wheels, mounted points, and finishing sticks are produced with this abrasive material made at our 960 Airport Rd., Fall River location.

This new system will increase our efficiency and productivity throughout the abrasive making process. Our investment will also improve product consistency, quality, and manufacturing longevity. "This is by far the largest capital investment project that we have embarked on for the sustainability of our business, and future generations of employee owners", says Bob Costa, company President. The shut down and dismantling of the old making line is complete and the installation of our new equipment is underway. "The biggest challenge was producing surplus material to support Rex Cut's order requirements during the making line changeover while at the same time, keeping up with increased business conditions."

Our new Material Making Line is being installed over the next few months at our main facility in Fall River, MA and is replacing our old line that was built and installed in the 1920's.

We are proud to be part of Fall River's rich textile industry and the manufacturing community providing jobs for 90 years. None of which would have been possible without the talent, hard work, and dedication of our employees.
