Global Power Technologies Signs Distribution Deal With Digi-Key

As part of the agreement, GPTG’s product line of silicon carbide semiconductors will be extended to Digi-Key’s global customer base of 550,000 design engineers.

THIEF RIVER FALLS, MN — Global Power Technologies Group (GPTG), a full service, low cost, silicon carbide semiconductor manufacturer for the commercial power market, today announced an exclusive global distribution agreement with Digi-Key, a provider of electronic component selection, availability, and delivery.

Digi-Key has become one of the most popular online destinations for electronic component purchase, featuring local websites, 24x7 technical support and multilingual customer service. As part of the agreement, GPTG’s product line will be extended to Digi-Key’s global customer base of 550,000 design engineers.

GPTG is a full service low cost Silicon Carbide Semiconductor manufacture for the commercial power market. 100MM and 150MM epi-wafers, SiC discrete diodes, SiC discrete mosfets, SiC modules and sub-systems for multiple market sectors are just some of the products it produces.

“We’re proud to announce an exclusive partnership with Digi-Key as part of our global growth strategy to reach a broader set of customers,” said Michael DiGangi Director of Business Development at Global Power Technologies Group. “Increasing demand for our low cost semiconductors has influenced our decision to align with a highly respected global distributor. Having proven their success with design engineers around the world, Digi-Key is a great fit for our product line.”

GPTG is a vertically integrated company and, under this structure, SiC technology is expected to be fully and economically deployed to meet the market demand by industry segments that desperately seek power system efficiency improvements. Due to vertical integration, GPTG cost for SiC products will reach silicon price points in the near future.

Digi-Key Electronics, based in Thief River Falls, Minn., is a global, full-service provider of both prototype/design and production quantities of electronic components, offering more than three million products from over 650 quality name-brand manufacturers.
