Suburban Chicago filtration supplier Rensa Filtration has been acquired by a private equity fund and a Canadian institutional investor, officials announced last week.
AEA Investors and British Columbia Investment Management Corp. purchased the company from Audax Private Equity for an undisclosed amount. Audax, as well as Rensa’s management, will retain minority stakes in the business.
Rensa, founded in 2017, says it is now one of the largest privately held filtration companies based in the U.S.
Its new owners, officials said, would support Rensa leaders’ continued efforts to broaden its capabilities and footprint “both organically and via acquisitions.”
“With AEA and BCI, we can invest further in engineering and manufacturing capabilities, extend our value-added service and distribution network, and welcome additional businesses to our platform,” Rensa founder and CEO Brandon Ost said in the announcement.
The first M&A deal under its new owners was announced Tuesday: Rensa added Aero Filter Inc., a suburban Detroit distributor of filtration solutions to factories, schools, healthcare facilities and other commercial buildings.
