Grainger has officially opened its newest distribution center to serve markets in the Pacific Northwest, company leaders announced.

The MRO giant — the top company on ID’s annual Big 50 list — held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday for its Northwest Distribution Center in Gresham, Oregon. Grainger first announced plans for the suburban Portland facility in July of 2023 and broke ground at the location almost exactly three years ago.

Kristi Braverman, the group vice president, distribution operations at Grainger, said that the 550,000-square-foot complex would provide faster and more efficient access to the company's products and services across the region. Grainger expects to create about 150 jobs at the Gresham location; it employs 240 people across its Oregon operations.

"We're proud to invest in this community, create local employment opportunities and strengthen our ability to support businesses and institutions throughout the region,” Braverman said in the announcement.

Grainger also expects to add another new distribution center later this year: the company began construction on a facility in Hockley, Texas, in 2024.
