Bosch Rexroth has officially opened a new logistics center at its hydraulics manufacturing campus in eastern Pennsylvania, company and local officials announced last week.
The German automation giant held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday for the $20 million building, which replaces a logistics site that had been located several miles away from the Bethlehem factory.
Bosch Rexroth officials said that the new, 50,000-square-foot logistics center would improve its lead times and flexibility, and that automated storage and retrieval systems would bolster storage capacity by 50%.
The company said that the project reflected its confidence both in the Bethlehem site and in its North American industrial hydraulics operations. Erwin Wieckowski, the president and CEO of Bosch Rexroth North and Central America, added that “it shows that we see an opportunity in North America.”
Lehigh Valley economic development officials said that the Pennsylvania hub designs and manufactures advanced hydraulic components and systems to power and control industrial machinery. It employs about 300 people overall.
