Birmingham Fastener’s Iowa subsidiary plans to build a new hub in suburban Des Moines that would more than double the space of its facility.
The Des Moines Business Record reports that Iowa Fastener plans to spend $10 million to $12 million on the construction of an 82,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution center adjacent to its current location in Ankeny, Iowa. The project is expected to begin this fall and wrap up next summer, at which point its operations will move from its current, leased facility into the new location that it will own outright.
Ankeny officials authorized an incentive package to support the project earlier this month, the publication added, which Iowa Fastener General Manager Rick Parker called “really generous.”
“I’ve worked in or run businesses in Ankeny for 30 years-plus, and I’m beyond proud to be able to do it right here where I grew up,” Parker told the Business Record.
Birmingham Fastener produces and distributes fasteners, hardware and other products from more than a dozen locations; the Iowa subsidiary began operations in 2019.
