Honeywell spinoff Solstice Advanced Materials US Inc. is expanding in Buffalo, New York, company officials announced.

Solstice, which makes high-performance specialty materials, plans to invest $49 million to construct, renovate and equip its Buffalo R&D facility.

The project will establish the Buffalo site as Solstice’s global R&D hub, as well as create 12 new jobs. The company currently employs 180 people in Buffalo.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the investment last Friday.

Formed in October 2025 as a spinoff of Honeywell Technologies’ specialty materials business, Solstice says it focuses on next-generation, environmentally friendly specialty materials for the refrigeration, foam insulation, aerosols, energy storage and semiconductor manufacturing industries.

New York State economic development agency Empire State Development is providing up to $1.4 million for the project through the Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit Program.
