The parent company of MRO giant Motion announced that its president and CEO will add the title of chairman following the retirement of its current non-executive chairman later this year.
Paul Donahue, who led Genuine Parts Company from 2016 to mid-2024 and subsequently moved into the chairman role, said that he would retire from the company’s board of directors at its shareholders meeting this year. Following his retirement, President and CEO Will Stengel will begin serving as president, chairman and CEO.
Company officials said that the move would “promote unified leadership and direction” for GPC moving forward.
"As I prepare to retire from the board, I am pleased with the board's decision to appoint Will as the company's next chairman,” Donahue said in the announcement. “His strategic clarity and deep understanding of our businesses make him the ideal leader to guide GPC forward as we enter this next chapter."
"I am deeply humbled to assume the role of chairman upon Paul's retirement," said Stengel. "Paul has been an incredible mentor, and his leadership has been pivotal to the success of GPC.”
