BlackHawk Industrial announced Wednesday that it has appointed Steve Gettleman as the distributor’s new vice president of category management.

BlackHawk officials said that Gettleman would oversee the company’s category strategy across the metalworking, fastener, MRO, and industrial product lineups in both sales and digital channels. He will particularly focus on enhancing product assortment, optimizing category and supplier performance, and leveraging data insights, officials added.

Gettleman most recently served as vice president of global private brands at security and low-voltage product distributor ADI Global, and previously held various roles over nearly two decades at MSC Industrial Supply.

“Steve brings a rare combination of category expertise, global sourcing experience, and demonstrated success building world-class supplier strategies,” BlackHawk President and CEO John Mark said in the announcement. “His leadership will play an essential role in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and strengthening our category performance, deepening supplier collaboration, and delivering the technical excellence and value our customers expect from BlackHawk.”

“BlackHawk’s commitment to innovation, customer success, and data-driven decision-making aligns perfectly with my passion for building high-performing category strategies,” said Gettleman.

BlackHawk ranks at no. 23 on ID’s 2025 Big 50 list.
