Fluid power and automation distributor SunSource has acquired suburban Houston flow control supplier Vytl Controls Group from MiddleGround Capital, the private equity firm announced Friday.

MiddleGround originally acquired Vytl — formerly PVI Holdings — in 2022. The company’s business units include valve and actuator distributor Setpoint Integrated Solutions, military and maritime flow control distributor W&O Supply, and valve, actuator and process control supplier AT Controls.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

SunSource, based in suburban Chicago, provides fluid power, fluid process, fluid conveyance and industrial automation products in the U.S. and Canada.

“The Vytl team has effectively operated and integrated these three businesses from a leadership, systems, and organizational perspective to expand their collective capabilities,” MiddleGround Founding and Managing Partner John Stewart said in a statement. “Achieving this outcome amid a complex economic environment reflects the strength of the management team and demonstrates the application of our hands-on, operationally focused investment approach.”

“We’re excited to build on this foundation by advancing our unified go-to-market strategy, broadening our product offerings, and exploring opportunities in additional end markets and geographies,” said Vytl CEO Matt Bate.
