Sonepar subsidiary Capital Electric has officially opened a new “central distribution center” in Charlotte, North Carolina, company officials announced Friday.

The 258,000‑square‑foot facility would offer greater inventory depth, faster fulfillment and increased logistics capabilities for industrial, OEM, commercial and residential customers, the company said. It would house about 20,000 unique SKUs and some $30 million worth of inventory, and bolster its service and distribution capabilities in the Carolinas and Southeast Georgia. The CDC would also feature on-site wire cutting, indoor pipe storage and  an in-house panel building shop.

Sonepar said that the facility anticipates adding 100 jobs over the next six months, and that Capital also expects to open new branches in North and South Carolina this year to meet growing demand from auto manufacturing, data centers and other segments.

“The opening of our Charlotte CDC marks a significant milestone for Capital Electric and reflects a strategic investment in the future of our business,” Capital Presdent Brendan O’Hare said in a statement. “It is a critical step in our growth strategy, expanding our footprint in the Carolinas and strengthening our distribution network to support larger projects, new markets and sustained long-term success.”

The Capital facility joins other large distribution centers opened in recent months by fellow Sonepar subsidiaries QED in Colorado, Codale in Las Vegas and World Electric near Atlanta.
