Graybar has reached an agreement to acquire New Jersey distributor Samson Electrical Supply, the company announced Friday.

Samson, located in South Plainfield, New Jersey, provides electrical products, lighting, power distribution equipment and MRO supplies to industrial, commercial, residential, industrial and utility customers. The company will retain its current name, staff and suppliers as a Graybar subsidiary.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Samson Electrical Supply is a highly regarded company with a strong customer focus and deep roots in New Jersey,” Graybar Chairman, President and CEO Kathleen Mazzarella said in a statement. “This acquisition expands Graybar’s presence in the region and enhances our ability to serve customers.”

“Joining Graybar allows us to preserve the values that have defined Samson for generations while providing access to additional resources, capabilities and growth opportunities,” said Samson President Michael Cohen.

The deal would be Graybar's third acquisition of the year; the electrical and industrial distributor added Oklahoma’s Broken Arrow Electric Supply in March and American Electric Supply in Southern California in May.

Graybar’s industrial operations came in at no. 14 on ID’s most recent Big 50 list.
