Despite a troubled global economic environment, Sonepar increased its sales to €16.3 billion in 2012—10% higher than in 2011. The group has strengthened its position as a premier global distributor of electrical products and related services.

The commitment and operational efficiency shown by group associates enabled Sonepar to meet its sales and financial targets. The group likewise outperformed the market, with autonomous growth of 2.4% in 2012.

At the same time, acquisitions carried out during the year, most notably Grupo Rosa Leal in Brazil, Codale Electric Supply in the U.S., DEP Engineering in Thailand and Corys Electrical in New Zealand, brought Sonepar an additional €500 million in sales. In fact, the Corys acquisition enlarged the group’s geographic footprint to a total of 36 countries.

In 2013, Sonepar will continue to give top priority to being La Référence, i.e., setting the standard in all of its markets for its customers and suppliers. To achieve that goal, the group will be focusing heavily on investment, an innovative sales approach and the development of new talent.
