Sonepar has deployed a new data and AI platform that it says is the first of its kind in its industry, company officials announced Thursday.
The French electrical distribution giant partnered with Onepoint on the system, which officials said was developed to orchestrate data “at scale” and "continuously" analyze sales, customer histories and logistics flows. Those capabilities, in turn, would allow Sonepar to modernize its supply chain, anticipate demand and deliver “personalized” customer experiences.
The vast majority of the business — representing about 95% of total revenue — “now benefits from predictive models,” the company said.
“AI is a truly strategic lever for Sonepar, enabling us to combine commercial performance, operational excellence, and sustainability,” Sonepar Chief Transformation Officer Jérémie Profeta said in a statement. “Thanks to Onepoint’s expertise, Sonepar is deploying the first global ‘Data & AI’ platform, the largest and most innovative in its industry.”
Sonepar added that it anticipates rolling out more use cases for the technology, including product recommendations, inventory optimization and sales team support.
