Kimball Midwest Opens New Nev. Distribution Center

COLUMBUS, OH – Kimball Midwest, a Columbus, Ohio based distributor of MRO supplies, celebrated the grand opening of its new 200,000-square foot distribution center in Sparks, Nevada on October 3, 2011. The grand event was highlighted by a high school marching band, an employee “tunnel of pride,” facility tours, catered lunch, ceremonial ribbon cutting, and culminated in the company shipping its first order from the facility.

COLUMBUS, OH – Kimball Midwest, a Columbus, Ohio based distributor of MRO supplies, celebrated the grand opening of its new 200,000-square foot distribution center in Sparks, Nevada on October 3, 2011.

The grand event was highlighted by a high school marching band, an employee “tunnel of pride,” facility tours, catered lunch, ceremonial ribbon cutting, and culminated in the company shipping its first order from the facility.  Numerous dignitaries attended the celebration including representatives from the offices of Nevada’s U.S. Senators, the mayor of Sparks, Nevada, and numerous VIP’s from the Northern Nevada Chamber of Commerce.

This new location will serve as the primary West Coast distribution center for the organization and replaces the company’s previous Reno location. The acquisition allows Kimball Midwest to expand their next day service capabilities to their extensive collection of West Coast customers while continuing to maintain their renowned service levels.  The need for this new facility is driven by the exemplary performance of the company’s outstanding sales team, which has resulted in dynamic sales growth of more than 20% in 2011intheirWest Coast customer base.

In addition to the newly acquired distribution facility in Reno, Nevada, the company maintains distribution facilities in both Columbus, Ohio and Dallas, Texas.  The company was recently ranked 45thin Industrial Distribution Magazine’s listing of the 50 largest distributors in the world.
