5 Minutes With ID: Wolseley Industrial is Now Ferguson Industrial

We chat with the group's vice president about what led to the rebranding and what it means for customers.

It’s been a busy past five years for Ferguson Enterprises, which is North America’s largest distributor of plumbing supplies, PVF, waterworks and fire and fabrication products. It’s former parent company, England-based Wolseley, was No. 1 on Industrial Distribution’s 2016 Big 50 List.

In 2017, Wolseley rebranded as Ferguson to better reflect where the company did the vast majority of its business. And in 2021, Wolseley UK was sold to private investment firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice for 420 million dollars, leaving Ferguson to go forward as a North American company.

But one business unit retained the Wolseley name, Wolseley Industrial Group, based in Newport News, Virginia. It has been a mainstay on the Big 50 since that 2017 rebranding, checking in at number 15 in our 2021 list and operating as a leading distributor of industrial PVF and general MRO products.

That name stuck, until now. The company gave ID an advance heads-up that, as of March 15, Wolseley Industrial Group is now Ferguson Industrial. The new name aligns with the rest of Ferguson, while denoting the unit’s niche role in serving industrial customers.

We were able to snag an interview with Ferguson Industrial vice president Daniel Hogge to chat about what led to the rebranding and what it means for customers going forward.
