Cummins-Wagner Acquires Upstate New York Company

Cummins-Wagner Co. Inc. announced Wednesday that it has acquired a manufacturer’s representative and distributor of heating and plumbing products across central New York.

Cummins-Wagner officials said that the addition of Syracuse Thermal Products Inc. would advance its strategy of “steady, manageable growth through market penetration and acquisition.” The Syracuse company specializes in hydronic heating, boiler and water heating, plumbing and steam products for the residential, commercial and industrial markets.


Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“The combination of Cummins-Wagner and Syracuse Thermal creates a company with greater scale and resources to continue and expand our ability to provide experienced engineered sales and service in the commercial and residential HVAC and plumbing markets,” Cummins-Wagner CEO Doug Ardinger said in a statement.

Syracuse Thermal’s employees will become part of Cummins-Wagner’s employee ownership structure.

“Teaming up with Cummins-Wagner brings stability for the future of the company,” added Syracuse Thermal President Jack Koenig. “It will provide resources to ensure Syracuse Thermal will continue to grow in the markets we serve.”

Maryland-based Cummins-Wagner operates branches in six states across the Mid-Atlantic and New England. The company ranked at no. 46 on ID’s 2025 Big 50 list.
