Steel pipe, tube and fittings distributor American Piping Products has been acquired by private equity firm SCF Partners, officials announced Wednesday.

APP, established in 1994, says it is one of the county’s largest providers of seamless and welded steel pipe, mechanical tubing, fittings and flanges. It serves over 1,800 customers in the U.S. and worldwide across the industrial, chemical, energy and data center markets.

SCF officials said that it would support geographic expansion of APP and provide added investment for the company, which is based in suburban St. Louis and operates steel yards in Houston, suburban Charlotte and Chicagoland.

“SCF’s deep understanding of our markets, industry relationships and experience supporting growth make them an ideal partner as we enter this next stage of growth,” APP CEO Mike Hubbell said in a statement.

“APP is an exceptional business with a differentiated position in the supply chain and long track record of delivering for its customers,” added SCF Managing Director Deviyani Misra-Godwin. “Its core energy and industrial markets align closely with sectors where SCF has deep experience and relationships, while its growing presence in power generation and data center infrastructure provides compelling opportunities for future growth.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
