Tool and equipment manufacturer Snap-on Inc. announced Tuesday that it has acquired Diesel Laptops, a provider of diagnostic tools for commercial vehicles and equipment, for about $100 million.

The South Carolina company, Snap-on officials said, serves fleet operators, repair shops and customers across the mining, infrastructure and agriculture sectors.

The move “expands Snap-on’s capabilities in these growing markets and further strengthens the corporation’s library of proprietary, experienced-based data, as well as its product offerings to support the diagnosis and repair of increasingly complex vehicles and equipment,” the company said in a statement.

Diesel Laptops will become part of Snap-on’s Repair Systems & Information group.
