IWDC Art Auction Raises $30,000 for Workshops for Warriors

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Independent Welding Distributors Cooperative (IWDC) celebrated its 25th Anniversary with a novel art auction event that generated more than $30,000 for Workshops for Warriors.

“We wanted to do something special and, through generous Vendor partner support, we were able to commission an artist who crafted a one of a kind oil painting on steel titled “Warrior to Welder,” stated Frank Kasnick, IWDC president & CEO. “We held a live auction during the closing dinner that included a silent auction and some games that had everyone on their feet having a blast supporting this great cause.” 

Workshops for Warriors is a non-profit school founded in 2008 in San Diego, CA. It trains, certifies and helps place veterans, wounded warriors and transitioning service men and women into advanced manufacturing careers, including welding and fabrication.

“In addition to fundraising, we updated Members on IWDC’s strategic initiatives and received valuable feedback on our programs during our Oct. 22-24 Owners’ Meeting held at Eau Palm Beach Resort, Manalapan, FL," reported Keith Werkley, IWDC director of sales & vendor management.

“We would like to thank our members, vendors and employees for their generous donations to this worthy caus,e” commented Erica Janas, IWDC director of marketing. “We take great pride in our affiliation and look forward to supporting future campaigns.” 

The IWDC is a cooperative, formed in 1994, which leverages the strengths of its independent welding distributor Members across North America. IWDC Member companies collectively represent over $2.7B in sales, serving a wide range of industries. The common denominator is that these industries look to them for industrial, specialty, and medical gases as well as related equipment, welding hardgoods and consumables.
