MARIETTA, Ga. — UL Environment, a business unit of UL (Underwriters Laboratories), and Green Endeavor Inc. (GEI) announced Monday the launch of a collaboration aimed at reducing the environmental and health-related impacts associated with industrial cleaning. This engagement is believed to be the first of its kind, focusing solely on 'greening' industrial cleaning.
"UL has a 120-year-old legacy of science-based certifications that promote safety," said Mark Rossolo, Global Director of Public Affairs at UL Environment. "UL Environment is evolving that legacy by focusing on the safety issue of the 21st century: human and environmental health. We are confident that our relationship with Green Endeavor will help ensure healthier and safer industrial manufacturing spaces."
As part of the agreement, UL Environment will offer its trusted standards-backed certification process to GEI solutions, giving industry the assurance that these products are subject to testing against rigorous standards. Supporting the marketplace for cleaner, safer, eco-focused cleaning solutions will help industry comply with state and federal environmental regulations, and lessen the impact their processes have on the environment. The use of these certified solutions will support the health and well-being of the workforce, and ultimately could provide significant cost savings.
"This is an enormous opportunity for Green Endeavor and UL Environment to pool our resources and expertise in order to help industry understand and adopt eco-focused solutions. Through our joint efforts we intend to increase the number, availability, coherence and quality of industrial cleaners in the marketplace that are known to be safer and healthier for the environment and the workforce that also make economic sense," said B. Scott Taylor, CEO of Green Endeavor Inc. Portland, Oregon based Green Endeavor is the world's first and only commercial resource exclusively providing environmentally focused solutions for industry.
