COLUMBUS, OH — Kimball Midwest, a national MRO Distributor, on Wednesday celebrated the grand opening their newly expanded corporate headquarters and distribution center located in Columbus, OH.
Kimball Midwest was No. 42 on Industrial Distribution's 2014 Big 50 List.
The 168,000 square foot expansion connected the office and distribution center with about 123,000 of additional distribution center space and approximately 45,000 square feet of dedicated office space, roughly doubling the current office space and allowing room for growth.
“Our growth model goes all the way back to before I got started,” Pat McCurdy, President and CEO said. “My father’s vision was to remain a salesman [once he became the sole owner], so we have always had that sales focus. We are a sales driven company and we know that won’t change. We have a firm faith in our business model and our people. We are confident this additional space will be necessary in the future as we continue to grow and expand.”
Dave McCurdy, COO, agrees. “It’s hard to believe for me, but we sure have facilitated a lot of growth,” he said. “Anything the sales teams have imagined, they’ve accomplished.”
Kimball Midwest has made significant investments to upgrade mechanicals and lighting over the past couple of years to improve their energy efficiencies. The headquarters location in Columbus continues the use of LED lighting and occupancy sensors in the distribution center and the new portion of the offices.
“We are changing the layout of the facility to give us improved efficiencies day one as well as better position ourselves to handle our dynamic growth,” says Steve Good, Director of Operations.
With the expansion, the company expects to add an additional 50 jobs to the Columbus area.
Kimball Midwest currently operates nationwide out of distribution centers in Columbus, Dallas, Reno and a new distribution center in Savannah, GA.
