RADNOR, Pa.--  Airgas, Inc. today announced that Jim McCarthy has been named vice president – safety and compliance, reporting to Mike Molinini, Airgas executive vice president and chief operating officer. McCarthy, who has served as director of gas supply chain for Airgas since 2008, will be responsible for aligning the principles and goals of SAFECOR with the new division structure of Airgas, and for reinforcing the Company’s commitment to the promulgation of safe working and driving practices industry-wide. “Jim’s leadership qualities and deep understanding of Airgas will serve him well in leading our strong SAFECOR team,” said Molinini. “He has the broad experience necessary to drive further success in an array of responsibilities that includes policy development, training, auditing, regulatory compliance, and oversight of the Airgas Emergency Response Organization.”

He was named operations manager of Sierra Airgas shortly thereafter, and then took over as president of Sierra Airgas in 1992. McCarthy has a BS degree in Chemistry from Mount Saint Mary’s University.
