Amazon announced Tuesday that Amazon Business and Business Prime is now available in Canada, marking the ninth country where the e-commerce giant's business-to-business online selling platform is active.

Ranked as the the 10th-largest economy in the world by Investopedia.com, Canada adds to Amazon Business' presence in the US, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Japan and India. Those countries represent nine of the 13-largest economies in the world, with the absent ones being China (second), Brazil (ninth), Russia (11th) and South Korea (12th).

“We’re very excited to empower Canadian business customers to simplify their procurement process so they can focus on what’s most important to them,” Amazon Business vice president Alexandre Gagnon said in a press release. “Whether for hospitals, educational institutions, large organizations, government agencies, non-profits, restaurants, research facilities or sole proprietors, Amazon Business is designed to meet unique and complex procurement needs in an experience familiar to anyone who looks to Amazon to find sharp pricing, broad selection and convenient delivery.”

Formerly AmazonSupply, Amazon Business was launched in 2015 as an annual membership program tailored to deliver services such as business-only pricing and quantity discounts for its sellers. Amazon hasn't broken out specific statistics about its Amazon Business network or number of sellers in several years, announcing in September 2018 that the platform had surpassed $10 billion in annual global sales — more than half of which comes from selling partners. As for the size of the network, the company's recent releases have stated simply that Amazon Business "serves millions of business customers and hundreds of thousands of business selling partners worldwide."

Amazon Business promotes that it allows business customers to quickly discover offers, pricing and quantity discounts, as well as tax exemption for qualifying purchases. Selling partners also gain visibility of their full product catalog.

As a newer feature of the platform, Business Prime is an annual membership program designed for Amazon Business customers, with key offerings of free one-day delivery for all users of an account.
