Continental’s hose and bearing segment has officially opened its new hydraulics plant in central Mexico, company officials announced.

The 900,000-square-foot ContiTech facility in Aguascalientes will produce high-performance hydraulic hoses for both industrial and mobile applications, including in the construction, mining, energy and agriculture sectors.

The new hub would also expand its manufacturing footprint in North America and bolster local supply chains.

“We’re investing not only in technology and capacity, but also in people and in opportunities for mutual value creation with customers and partners,” ContiTech USA CEO Andreas Gerstenberger said in a statement.

Continental announced earlier this year that it was making preparations to spin off the ContiTech segment in an effort to focus its business on vehicle tires.
