Affiliated Distributors on Monday announced the formation of a new waterworks division and named the segment’s first president.
AD established the waterworks division following its merger with plumbing and HVAC buying group the Commonwealth Group earlier this year. John Henkels, formerly the U.S. vice president and COO of Iconix Waterworks, will take over as the division's president effective Jan. 1.
Henkels most recently led U.S. operations, acquisitions and branch network expansion for Iconix, a subsidiary of Canadian distribution giant Deschênes Group. He previously held leadership positions at Clockwork Home Services, Goodman Manufacturing and Wesco.
“The creation of the Waterworks Division marks an exciting expansion of AD’s commitment to independent distributors,” AD Chairman and CEO Bill Weisberg said in a statement. “The needs and opportunities for distributors and suppliers within this distinct and growing industry are different than plumbing. John’s extensive experience, operational expertise and proven record of growth will be instrumental as we establish and grow this new division.”
