ISA Announces Lifetime Achievement & Excellence In Industry Awards

The John J. Buckley Lifetime Achievement Award is named after the former executive vice president of the Industrial Supply Association. The Excellence In Industry Award recognizes companies in the MROP channel for their commitment to driving value to channel partners.

Tevens Presented ISA Lifetime Achievement Award

The Industrial Supply Association named Timothy T. Tevens, president and CEO of Columbus McKinnon Corporation, recipient of its John J. Buckley Lifetime Achievement Award at the ISA 2014 Convention in New Orleans on May 17.

A former ISA president, Tevens was the first manufacturer member to serve as ISA president following the merger of the Industrial Distribution Association and the Industrial Supply Manufacturers Association. He served as ISA president in 2005-2006.

“I am incredibly honored to be recognized by the Industrial Supply Association, an organization that has been important to me since its inception and highly relevant to our industry through the years. The award is especially meaningful for me personally, as it is named in honor of John Buckley, who was an exceptional leader and a very dear friend,” said Tevens.

Tevens has served as president and chief executive officer of Columbus McKinnon Corp., the Amherst, New York-based designer, manufacturer and marketer of material handling products, systems and services, since 1998. He joined Columbus McKinnon in 1991 as vice president of information services.

He is also active in a number of professional and charitable organizations. He has been a member of the American Production and Inventory Control Society since 1981, having served as past Region II Conference Chairman, Region II Representative and president of the Buffalo Chapter. He served as director of Insyte Consulting, a not-for-profit organization that helps Western New York manufacturing and technology companies succeed. He currently serves on the board of directors of Zep Inc.

He has played an active role in the local community, serving as chair of the Western New York March of Dimes, and twice co-chaired the March of Dimes Gourmet Gala with his wife, Colleen. He has served as chair of the American Heart Association’s Heart Ball and participated in events for the United Way.

Tevens also has shown his support of educational institutions, serving on the Erie Community College Manufacturing Technology Advisory Council and the St. Joseph Collegiate Institute Board of Trustees. He is a member of the Canisius College Board of Regents and the College’s Leadership Society.

The John J. Buckley Lifetime Achievement Award is named after the former executive vice president of the Industrial Supply Association. “It is very fitting that the individual selected for the award was involved in the search committee that brought John Buckley to ISA. Their paths crossed again when Tim became president of ISA early in John’s tenure,” said Ed Gerber, Immediate Past President of ISA, and executive vice president of sales for Industrial Distribution Group, who presented the award to Tevens at the ISA Convention in New Orleans on May 17.

JIS (Jergens Industrial Supply) wins Excellence in Industry Award

The Industrial Supply Association named JIS (Jergens Industrial Supply) of Cleveland the winner of the American Eagle Excellence in Industry Award at its 2014 Convention in New Orleans on May 17.

The award recognized how JIS Industrial Supply created a productivity and technology partnership with a customer, Slabe Machine Products, to free up machine time and reduce total tool costs. Working in conjunction with the rep firm Browne & Company, Chardon, Ohio, and carbide cutting tools manufacturer Fullerton Tool Company of Saginaw, Mich., JIS helped Slabe Machine reduce machine time, extend tool life and lower total tooling cost. The program, which took several weeks to implement, generated total savings of more than $480,000.

“When a true partnership is formed at all levels of the supply chain, amazing things can happen,” said Jack Schron, president of Jergens Inc. “By using these partnership programs, JIS, Brown & Company and Fullerton Tool are confident that we can become true leaders in partnering with local businesses by providing leading edge technology and productivity gains to keep manufacturing strong in the USA.”

The Excellence In Industry Award recognizes companies in the MROP channel for their commitment to driving value to channel partners. Qualified candidates demonstrate excellence in one or more areas, including: communicating with channel partners, introducing innovative products and services that create new business opportunities, developing effective marketing programs to drive sales, or showing exemplary leadership and service in partnership with charitable and community organizations.

JIS, a division of Jergens Inc., is a distributor of metalworking products representing more than 300 of the top manufacturers in the United States. Jergens Inc. is a manufacturer of standard tooling components, fasteners, hoist rings, vices and other workholding equipment.
