The article version of our 2017 Big 50 List dominated traffic on ID this past week, our piece on distributors' response to Hurricane/Tropical Storm Harvey fared well, while news of Fairmont Supply's new CEO and continued growth for overall U.S. manufacturing also were big items.

Fairmont Supply Appoints Former FleetPride, HD Supply VP As CEO: Washington, PA-based MRO distributor Fairmont Supply — No. 49 on ID's Big 50 List — recently appointed 20-year industrial supply veteran Paul Fichiera as its new leader.

U.S. Manufacturing PMI Now Highest Since April 2011: August's PMI reading was its highest since April 2011's 58.9. The second-highest in that span was August 2014's 58.1, with the new reading showing that the current U.S. manufacturing economy is on solid footing.

Following Acquisition, HD Supply Waterworks Is Now Core & Main: Following its Aug. 1 completed $2.5 billion acquisition by private investment firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, HD Supply Waterworks is now its own standalone company, complete with a new name: Core & Main.
