Grainger, No. 3 on Industrial Distribution's 2014 Big 50 List, on Thursday reported sales for January 2015.
Daily sales increased 3 percent year-over-year, including a 1 percent rise from acquisitions and a 2 percent drop from unfavorable foreign exchange. Excluding those two factors, daily organic sales increased 4 percent. Grainger says the increase was driven by 4 percentage points from volume and 2 percent from favorable comparability to the business disruptions in January due to extreme weather, although the increase was offset by a 2 percent decline in lower sales of seasonal products.
United States January sales increased 4 percent year-over-year, Canada sales decreased 4 percent, while all other business increased 14 percent.
