Kollmorgen (Radford, VA) and KNAPP Systemintegration GmbH unveiled their new automation solution, which is meant to be installed within current warehouse infrastructure to help reduce operational costs through increased picking productivity. Automated forklifts can be used to fetch empty roller cages, escort the RF-terminals-equipped picker to the required pick locations, and dispatch full roller cages. They are also used for transportation tasks such as picking up full roller cages from areas with goods-to-man picking, and transporting them to the dispatch area. According to the company, the automated forklifts operate safely within a mixed environment that includes pickers and manual forklifts.
