Motion Industries To Open New Distribution Near Seattle

Less than a day after announcing it has absorbed fellow Genuine Parts Co. subsidiary EIS Inc., Motion Industries announced Wednesday that it will open a new distribution center in the Pacific Northwest late this spring. Learn the details here.

MRO products distributor Motion Industries, No. 6 on Industrial Distribution's 2017 Big 50 List, announced Wednesday that it will soon open a new distribution center in the Pacific Northwest.

Birmingham, Al-based Motion Industries will open a 62,000+ square foot DC in Auburn, WA in the late spring of this year, about 25 miles south of downtown Seattle. The company says the new facility will enhance its logistical network by serving 24 area branch locations daily, as well as the entire company footprint of 500+ locations as needed.

Motion said the DC will stock and ship a broad range of industrial parts and supplies, including bearings, power transmission products, fluid power components, electrical parts, safety supplies and more.

“The opening of this DC is a strategic initiative to amplify our service and commitment to our customers in the Pacific Northwest,” said Joe Limbaugh, Motion Industries Vice President of Operations/Distribution/Properties.

The new facility will be Motion's eighth primary North American DC, complementing locations in Birmingham; Tracy, CA; Chicago, IL; Baltimore, MD; Dallas, TX; Edmonton, AB; and Lachine, QC.

"Speed to market is important to customers, and it is important to us," said Tim Breen, Motion Industries President and CEO. "This distribution center’s location will be key to getting customers the parts and supplies they need even faster than before."

The news came less than a day after Motion announced that it has absorbed fellow Genuine Parts Company subsidiary EIS Inc., which is now the Electrical Specialties Group of Motion Industries as of Jan. 2. EIS is an electrical and industrial parts distributor headquartered in Atlanta, GA and was No. 22 on ID's Big 50 List.
