The company said that the initiative helps bolster its in-house lighting expertise, while employees that complete all four modules are eligible to take the third-party NCQLP exam to become “Lighting Certified.”

Acuity Brands, a partner of the program, contributed subject matter experts, e-learning resources and its Visual Lighting design software to the academy, Sonepar officials noted, as well as co-hosted an in-person training event in May at its Experience Center in Chicago.

“As lighting technology continues to advance, customers increasingly rely on partners who can provide more than products,” Bob Preston, lighting solutions specialist at Sonepar subsidiary Capital Electric, said in a statement. “They need guidance, expertise and solutions tailored to their projects.”
