The parent of office supply retailer Office Depot is shifting to a more familiar name for both its overall business and its B2B distribution segment, the company’s CEO announced Tuesday.
Craig Gunkel said in a video posted to social media that, effective Tuesday, ODP Group is now known as Office Depot Group, and the distribution business, previously known as ODP Business Solutions, will instead be Office Depot Business.
“We’re going back to basics; we’re going back to the brand that got us here,” Gunckel said in the video.
ODP, including its brick-and-mortar retail operations, the B2B distributor and supply chain services provider Veyer, was acquired and taken private by manufacturing and distribution conglomerate Atlas Holdings early this year. Gunkel, a former executive at Iconex and WestRock, was named its new chief executive at closing.
