OmniCable announced Thursday that it has acquired fellow wire and cable distributor Kingwire from its private equity owner.
Kingwire, OmniCable officials said, provides low- and medium-voltage wire and cable for electrical distributors nationwide, as well as company-branded products for the building wire, data center, utility, industrial and renewable energy markets. The company, based in North Chicago, Illinois, operates eight warehouses with a combined capacity of over 625,000 square feet.
OmniCable leaders said that the move would create a “wire and cable redistribution industry leader” that would maximize the companies’ “highly complementary businesses, products and facilities.” Each business will maintain its current brand and its existing locations, officials added.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Together, OmniCable and Kingwire will provide electrical distributors with broader product availability, expanded warehouse reach, deeper aluminum wire expertise, and enhanced support across stock, project and specialty wire and cable needs,” OmniCable CEO Chris Breslin said in a statement.
Kinderhook Industries, Kingwire’s former owner, acquired and combined the business with Cameron Wire & Cable in 2021. Kingwire CEO Andy Kessel said that the company subsequently expanded its footprint, bolstered its inventory and entered new markets.
“OmniCable is the right home for what this team has built, and we are excited about the value the two companies can deliver to electrical distributors,” Kessel said.
