Grainger announced Wednesday that it has acquired “technology, intellectual property and talent assets” from technology solutions company Adroit Worldwide Media in a deal worth $210 million.

Grainger officials said that the move would bring “differentiated frictionless technology” for B2B industrial distribution to the MRO giant’s High-Touch Solutions-North America division — enhancing the segment’s inventory management capabilities. In particular, the company said, the newly added technology would improve product availability, help customers lower their overall inventory management costs, and “free up skilled labor for higher-value work.”

The distributor added that integration efforts would begin “immediately” and that it hopes to launch a commercial pilot of the new technology over “the next several months.”

Grainger — the top distributor on ID’s Big 50 list — said that the deal was not expected to materially impact its financial results in the near-term.
