“This acquisition demonstrates the continued growth and expansion strategy of the Home Depot and SRS as we increase GMS’s offering in complementary products and bolster GMS’s presence in the South Texas market,” GMS President and CEO John Turner said in the announcement.

Central Materials founding partners Cesar Guzman and Alejandro Barrera will continue managing the business — and its two locations in the Rio Grande Valley — in partnership with GMS’ Southwest division “for the foreseeable future,” officials said. The business would also retain its current name, branding and staff.

“We are very excited to see how something we started almost 15 years ago is ready for this next step,” Guzman and Barrera said in a joint statement. “We feel that GMS shares our values and will be able to make Central Materials grow even more.”
