Grainger Reports October 2013 Sales Results

Grainger has reported sales results for the month of October 2013. Sales increased 7 percent versus October 2012. Results for the month included 3 percentage points positive contribution from acquisitions and a 1 percentage point decline from unfavorable foreign exchange.

CHICAGO /PRNewswire/ -- Grainger (NYSE: GWW) has reported sales results for the month of October 2013. Sales increased 7 percent versus October 2012. Results for the month included 3 percentage points positive contribution from acquisitions and a 1 percentage point decline from unfavorable foreign exchange. Excluding acquisitions and foreign exchange, organic sales increased 5 percent driven by 6 percentage points of volume growth, partially offset by a 1 percentage point decline from sales of hurricane-related products in October 2012. Last year, Grainger provided hurricane-related products for the preparation and response to Hurricane Sandy in the northeast United States. The month of October 2013 had 23 selling days, the same as October 2012. The 2013 fourth quarter will have 64 selling days, the same as the 2012 fourth quarter.
