Musk Company in Talks for Texas Tunnel Project

The Boring Co. could build another loop in San Antonio.

Tesla is about to officially open its billion-dollar “gigafactory” on the outskirts of Austin.

But that doesn’t mean that Elon Musk is done building things in central Texas.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO’s construction firm, The Boring Co., is in talks to build a transit loop in San Antonio.

The proposed project would route traffic between the city’s airport and downtown corridor, the San Antonio Express-News reports.

The firm said it could be built in as little as 36 months at a price tag between $247 million and $289 million.

The Boring Co. has opened the first loop of a tunnel project in Las Vegas and plans another in South Florida.

Proposed projects in Los Angeles and Washington, however, were quietly shelved, and the Las Vegas loop saw an embarrassing traffic jam earlier this year.
