Newell Brands is closing the Coleman Co. plant in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.
As a result, 175 workers will be out of a job.
According to a report in the Star Tribune, Coleman will close the facility by the end of 2021.
Most of the layoffs will occur around December 31, 2021.
Until 2008, the plant was owned by Stearns Inc and manufactured life jackets, primarily for the government with some recreational products.
In a statement, Newell said it is getting out of the industrial and government flotation product business.
The company will maintain the Stearns recreational line.
In 2020, Newell Brands lost $770 million on $9.4 billion in revenue.
