Shanghai, China -- Praxair China has started up a new air separation plant in Nanjing, Jiangsu province for Meishan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Baosteel Group, one of the world's top steel makers.
This new air separation plant has a capacity of 1,700 tons per day and supplies oxygen, nitrogen and argon to support Meishan Steel's growing demand as well as deliver added value in energy efficiency, product quality and process safety. The plant's liquid capacity also improves Praxair's ability to reliably supply the region's merchant liquid customers.
The plant will nearly double the existing oxygen production capacity serving Meishan Steel. Praxair China has been supplying industrial gases to Meishan Steel for over a decade and has already built a number of air separation plants to supply this customer in Nanjing.
"We are very honored to further extend our commercial relationship with Meishan Steel and support its continuous, dynamic development," said Dr. Minda Ho, president of Praxair China. "The startup of our new air separation plant further demonstrates our ability to serve large, world-class steel mills and our commitment to a long-term relationship with Meishan Steel."
