Sterling Heights, MI-based The Macomb Group has announced the acquisition of the operations of Smith Metal & Supply, a fellow distributor of PVF products that does business as Richburg Supply Company and is based in Richburg, SC. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Richburg Supply opened in 2003 and was acquired by Smith Metal & Supply in 2008. The company's national business segment has completed projects in Texas, California, Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. On the regional side, its daily service model encompasses Charlotte, NC down to Columbia, SC and from Greenville, SC east to Dillon, SC.
“Since our expansion into North Carolina in 2016, and subsequent opening of a new 80,000 square foot distribution center in Charlotte last January, we’ve been focused on establishing operations in South Carolina," said Bill McGivern, The Macomb Group CEO. "Richburg Supply provided a unique opportunity to not only access attractive new customers in South Carolina, but also to enhance the strength of our team in the southeast."
Founded in 1977, The Macomb Group has 18 service branches in seven states: Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina and Tennessee. The company serves end markets that include automotive (OEMs and suppliers), food & beverage, general manufacturing, hospitals, schools & universities, pharmaceuticals, utilities, power plants, steel, pulp & paper, refineries and general industry.

The acquisition is the first for The Macomb Group since its 2016 addition Matthews, NC-based Mechanical Supply Company.
