3M on Tuesday reported stronger-than-expected sales in its latest quarter and raised its outlook for the remainder of the year.

The industrial giant posted sales of $6.5 billion in the second quarter, an increase of 2.4.% compared to the same quarter in 2025, while earnings jumped 33% to $1.78 per share. Its operating margin dropped by 290 basis points year-over-year to 15.1%, but officials noted that the operating margin was up on an adjusted basis.

3M Chairman and CEO Bill Brown said in a statement that the company’s sales growth exceeded its expectations and that it had raised its outlook heading into the second half of the year. 3M now expects adjusted sales to be 4.5% higher over the full year.

"We delivered a strong second quarter … reflecting the progress we're making on our strategic priorities and building a higher-performing company," Brown said.

The company, Reuters noted, highlighted a strong performance by its industrial and safety segment — its largest — and suggested that higher prices would “fully offset” the impacts of the inflation fueled by the oil and gas market.
