Sonepar has acquired Grup Carol, a Spanish distributor of industrial, automation and communications products, company officials announced last week.
The French electrical supply giant said that the deal would bolster its industrial division in Catalonia, a region with a strong manufacturing presence and “many opportunities to grow.” Grup Carol operates six branches in Barcelona province with a staff of 95.
“We are convinced that this new stage is only the beginning to continue developing together our ‘industry solutions’ offer in Catalonia,” Bárbara García Florén, president of Sonepar Ibérica, said in a statement. "The acquisition of the Carol Group is a further step forwards to our commitment to Sonepar specialization in the industrial market.”
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Sonepar said that Grup Carol recorded 2024 sales of 34 million euros, or nearly $40 million.
“Joining a world leader such as Sonepar, present in 40 countries and with values that are fully aligned with ours, gives us new opportunities for growth and specialization," Grup Carol’s Ramón and Jordi Carol added in a joint statement.
