WestAir Makes Two Acquisitions

San Diego, CA – WestAir Gases & Equipment, Inc. has acquired Bakersfield, CA-based Melo’s Gas & Gear.

With 7 locations, Melo’s Gas & Gear has quickly become one of the largest independent distributors of gases and welding supplies in the California Central Valley. Melo’s Gas & Gear was established in 1999 by a small group led by David Melo. Their founding principle has been to take care of customers with “traditional values and traditional service.”

Our companies have very similar cultures, and we are excited about the growth opportunities this acquisition will provide for our customers and fellow associates. Not only do we gain 7 new locations, but some tremendous talent that will continue to drive our growth, well into the future,” said Steve Byers, WestAir’s General Manager.

WestAir has also acquired the assets of North Texas Welders Supply.

North Texas Welders Supply has one location, based in Fort Worth and has been in business since 1997. “This acquisition fits well with our Springtown, Texas facility, and enhances our presence in the North Texas marketplace where we see tremendous growth opportunities”, said Steve Byers, WestAir’s General Manager.

Michael Crambes is WestAir’s Area Manager for North Texas and will oversee the day to day operations including the integration of North Texas Welders Supply. This is WestAir’s second acquisition this year in Texas.
