WESCO Distribution, No. 5 on Industrial Distribution's 2014 Big 50 List, has opened its third United Kingdom office with a new facility in Uxbridge, London, as well as tripled its headcount within its data communication sales team to support growing demand.
The new location gives the MRO and OEM distributor a southern office to complement its U.K. branches in Manchester and Aberdeen.
Pittsburgh-based WESCO has increased its data communications sales team from three to nine last year, and plans to keep adding to it and its overall U.K. company headcount, which stands at 25, according to channelweb.co.uk.
“The last two years has seen strong investment in our UK operation which has expanded from servicing a single customer to now supporting 20 global brands and a community of 500 integrators across the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands,” said Richard Eichhorn, sales director EMEA, data communication and security at WESCO.
Eichhorn said WESCO looks to expand its presence into new European territories over the next few years, but said that the U.K. would be one of its "high-growth" markets.
